Overheard on Santas knee and Christmas

First off, I haven't gotten a chance to post since before Christmas, but I wanted to let you know what Cutie Pie asked santa for. We went to see santa at the mall and the usual happened... Pooky cried, Princess wouldn't talk to him...Mr. Hockey tolerated and listened to the jokes that he told, and Cutie Pie. This was her comment to santa..."I want a bell so I can believe". Interesting, huh? She didn't get one on Christmas morning and kept saying..."I didn't get a bell".

Oh, and the other funny thing she said was on her birthday. She didn't cry or anything for her ear piercing, when we got home I gave her the gift from my parents, which is a subscription to the Chirp magazine for the year. I told her we were going to call them and say thank you for the gift. She says "and I am going to ask uncle M why he didn't call and sing happy birthday to me" and she did. She really put him on the spot!! We sure do have our hands full with her.

Anyhow, Christmas morning was so much fun. The kids were up at 5 to 7. Every year I wait on the stairs with the kids and hubby comes down to make sure santa hasn't fallen asleep, and every year he does!! So, hubby will proceed to kick santa out of the house to help him on his way:-) The kids love this tradition, but Cutie Pie had asked him NOT to kick santa out, just to help him on his way, so that is what he did. Then hubby turns on all the noisy lights and accessories and waits in the door of the living room to take a picture of the kids faces. I love this tradition. The older ones know, but they still look forward to it.

We opened our stockings and then ate the orange from the bottom, always have to eat the orange, then we started opeing the gifts from under the tree. The kids had a blast and so did we, Mr. Hockey got a snare drum practice pad (he is getting sticks today from my parents), Princess got a portable cd/mp3 player, Cutie Pie got lots of dolls, and so did Pooky. They all got new hardcover Bibles as well. I got a new Laser Printer!!! and I got hubby a car starter. We had a great morning.

Then we had an awesome breakfast. It was a sausage and egg casserole that was made the night before. In the morning you just put it in the oven for 45 minutes and voila! breakfast!!

Then I spent the rest of the day trying to hook up my new printer. Hubby made the dinner (I made it at Thanksgiving) and I got so frustrated at my system. Tomorrow I am dumping the computer and putting on XP. I am tired of 2000. It kept coming up with the message "print subsystem unavailable". Other printers I have tried kept having that message too, so it is the computer not the printers...

Alright, well today we are heading over to my parents house for Christmas there. The kids get more presents and we are having a pasta themed meal (everyone brings something pasta, good for weight loss, right?;-) and then we play the capitalist game of Monopoly.

It isn't just any monopoly game, this one includes alliances, scheming, crooks and interesting offers...it is a lot of fun. Last year the Martha Corporation won, and (I can't remember the other name) lost. I was part of neither, I tried to stay true to my game and didn't alliance with anyone, I ended up out, really early!! We have fun with it and there are no more tears, like when we were kids.

Was I the only one to get so upset at the game of Monopoly as a kid that I would cry and leave the game? Please tell me there are others out there!!

Have a great boxing day and I will be back to let you know who wins the game (maybe I will be the sole survivor this year!!)

  1. We did the casserole thing for breakfast, too! Makes it so easy when you can assemble it the night before.

Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas! I hope you have many more like them.
