Well, it is official in Ontario...it is now the new year!!
We had a blast at our church's Sock Hop party. I had not mentioned it earlier, cause I didn't want anyone to know what we were planning on wearing to the party. It was going to be a surprise. Not such an easy thing to do though!!
Now, you have to understand our family...we are not the type of people to dress up in costumes or even myself, I rarely ever wear a skirt or dress. Tonight we were going for shock value...see the picture.
This is taken at my mothers house, before we left. They insited on a family picture. It is a bit dark, but you get the idea.
My mom helped me sew a poodle skirt. Just an easy circle skirt with a tulle crinolin underneath. The hardest part was the waist band, cause of the bunching. Then we starched it so it would stick out a bit more. I also stitched the poodle onto the skirt, cause we couldn't find a poodle motif to sew on. I just printed out a picture of a poodle and pinned it to the skirt. Then I hand stitched around the border and filled in the eye and nose. It turned out really cute. I had looked for a pair of inexpensive white shoes to wear, but they are not generally in stores until the spring, go figure. So, I found a $3 pair of black shoes and painted them white in the front and back.
We had a great time there, with the shakes, floats and fries and onion rings. The staff of "Pop's Diner" were awesome and did a great job! There was dancing, and karaoke, and noise makers and all that great stuff.
Now, it is time for bed, we are heading out for chinese for lunch tomorrow.
Last night was a lot of fun, my hubby and I really enjoyed it a lot. Your whole family looked very 50s...nice job on the outfits. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, real cool job on the duds! I think it was a great night too, we should have more fun like this more often... wait... we do! People actually think we have TOO much fun... ;0 oh well.
