The Magician's Nephew

We just finished reading this tonight. It is book number 1 in the Narnia series and if you have the opportunity to read this book and share it with your kids, please do so!!

We started on Tuesday and had a hard time not finishing it on Tuesday. It is one of those books you just can't put down. It is also so detailed and such an intricately woven story, that I couldn't even do it justice by typing about it here.

We read it as a family every night before the kids went to bed and everyone really looked forward to that time, not just to read the book, but also to spend the time together, without the tv on!!

The kids will be doing a book report on it tomorrow and it will be interesting to see what they have to say about it. How much of it are they going to relate to the Bible, creation, God, The tree in the garden, the apple...it could almost be read alongside the book of Genesis, in some parts.

Tomorrow night we start The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It is also neat to understand where the wardrobe really came from and exactly whose house in the country it is...so many questions were answered...and the kids wanted to start the second book tonight...

Definitley worth the read.

  1. I read that book too recently. Definitely a lot of parallels between the story and creation.

  2. Ruth;
    Your children sure like to Ham it up - wonder where they get that from. Do you think it's the books they read or from the parents???

  4. I love The Chronicles of Narnia! We read them as a family when I was a child and it is such a wonderful memory. I might have to dig them out and re-read them.
