Monday Menu Planning...

In the spirit of making changes in the new year...cause we all do it, one way or another, we want to change our eating habits.  That means, less junk and more at home meals.  Oh, and no midnight runs to McDonalds!!

Not going to say we are giving up fast food, because that just would be setting us up for failure, we will still eat out and enjoy the convenience when needed, but we are going to do more cooking at home.

So, to help me organize this better, I am going to attempt to make and follow a menu plan, unsing mostly items we already have in the house and only having to buy the extras.  This will help us with saving some money and keeping us organized.

So, here goes...

Monday - Taco Soup - we already have the ground meats (bought a pig and loaded up on beef when it was on sale).  Instead of the chilies, I think we are going to add some peppers...We are also going to make our own taco seasoning

Tuesday - Sausage, Green Pepper and Onions served on buns - We are inundated with sausage from the pig...so we are going to include quite a few sausage dishes.  This one I am only going to change how the sausage is included...we are going to cut them into coins and serve them on buns that way.  Probably will add a salad to this meal to round it out.

Wednesday - Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad

Thursday - Spicy Tuna and Tomato Sauce with Fettucini Noodles - we will use whatever noodles we have here...

Friday - Maple Orange Glazed Pork Chops, Orange Rice, Veggies

Saturday - Order In - Pizza, Fish etc...

Sunday - Glazed Baked Ham, mashed potatoes, veggies

I will have to see if I stick to this by the end of the week.  I am great at planning and organizing, but the follow through is where I usually fail...so this is my test:-)

We have also spent the last few days decluttering the house, well the main floor so far.  We have gotten over 10 bags of "stuff" that we really don't need...it is all so freeing!!

I can't wait to see what changes 2012 will bring to our family:-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!
