Is Spring Really Here???

Spring has definitely taken its time arriving this year...

I have always dreaded cleaning, decluttering and trying to get my family involved.  This year has been a little different.

My kids have got to be the "strangest" around, as soon as they realized we had these cleaning products, they were jumping in without me even asking them to help.  Some phrases that I have heard around the house are "If you finish the living room, you can use the Swiffer" and "NO, I want to clean that room"!!

Can we say music to my ears!!  The scents that we have had wafting through the house have been tremendous and the joy at the fact that our house is staying clean, has taken me over!  I am not sure why I waited so long to have things like this in the house.

Even Faith can help and loves using the Magic Eraser and the Duster.

Next year (or even throughout this summer) I plan on setting up a household notebook which will include regular daily, weekly and monthly jobs that I would love to see each member of the family participating in.  This way, it stays clean all the time and hopefully next spring, it will not be as big a job as it has been this year.

What tips and tricks, websites, checklists do you use when it comes to spring cleaning?

  1. I motivate my family with money. My kids get paid for extra jobs, but not normal chores. They are always eager to earn dollar store money!

  3. Well, I don't motivate too many, I just do it myself. I like keeping up with the housework so I don't get overwhelmed. My daughter gets motivated with the outdoor work

  7. My oldest will help clean the basement as that is where he spends a lot of his time from TV to sleep so I will ask him to try to keep it clean. My youngest helps clean his toys. We all have things that we try to do to help out. It might not always be fun but it needs to be done.

  8. Never really had to motivate my family to clean, we all usually know what needs to be done (plus everyone in my household is pretty much a clean freak so not a lot of mess to deal with =P)

  9. No need to motivate. Everyone is responsible for their own area. If you leave it messy you get to live with it! Surprisingly works out fairly well.

  16. My hubby and I have made it clear that the whole family has to work together to keep our house nice. However, I have to say that that usually need to be reinforced through nagging, bugging and occasionally bribing :)!

  20. I am not actually sure I can claim that I really have found a way to motivate my family to clean. When my son was smaller it was easier, but now he really doesn't like to. However, we throw on tunes and I let him pick the radio station and that seems to help. Then we help each other out in areas first.. and seperate into smaller single person chores after. Seems to work :)
