My week thus far...

Ok, so it has been a few days, I think since I posted last. I have been on Advil since I fell down on Friday. Today is the first day that I have not needed any at all, I am happy for that because I am not much of a medicine person. I also seemed to have a really emotional weekend. I just have to stop listening to that horrible voice in my head sometimes (all the time). I hate that voice that tells me I am not good enough, I am not where I should be, I am dumb and that everyone else is so much better off then I am. I find that I really struggle in that area. I am really trying to consume my mind in better things. That is why I am reading more, I am singing more (maybe not good, but it is a feel good kinda thing for me), I am keeping busy doing things that I know need to be done. I just can't let myself get into the pit that I have been in before and I think I am doing ok thus far...

It has been crazy busy around here. On Sunday we had my sisters baby shower. It was nice to see family and friends from all over the place again. It was a lot of fun. She was so blessed with all the gifts and good wishes, she felt a bit overwhelmed...which is always good!!

On Monday we went down to the church for our morning drop-in program. It was just us and one other family, but I happend to bring 8 kids with me!! We came home and I got to look after the new baby too, so we had 9 kids altogether. It was actually very enjoyable. I kept telling Mr. Bus Driver that we could so handle at least one more if not more!!! He said it is nice to hand them back afterwards!! I had 3 of them asleep at the same time and the others watched a movie, and 2 were doing their schoolwork. It was a nice quiet day for us.

Today we actually got quite a bit of schoolwork done here. It was nice to see the kids enjoying the work too, not too many complaints today. Mr. Hockey wrote some sentences in his journal and we had a look at them after. Wow, I didn't realize how bad the problem was. So I went to Amazon.ca and ordered 2 books that I have been told are great for learning new ways to handle these situations:

The Gift of Dyslexia, by Ronald Davis. It is written by a man who is dyslexic. He didn't figure it out until later in life and worked on ways that he could handle it and do the things that were too hard for him to do before. I am really looking forward to reading this book and maybe passing it on to someone else who could use it too.

and the other one is

Right Brained Children in a Left Brained World, by Jeffrey Freed. At the homeschool conference I heard about this book over and over again. I was really intrigued by the title and thought for sure I would like to read it. I will hopefully then, pass it on when I am done.

I am realizing my love for reading again. I have always been an avid reader, but have just not been able to find the time lately. I took the book Scribbling in the Sand, by Michael Card, out of the library. I am only 2 chapters in, and I am loving it. I can't wait till I get to finish the book. What a great reminder of what worship is all about. When we hear from God we respond with worship. There are many ways that we can respond in creative worship...it can be with music, silence, painting, adoration, appreciation, dance, writing... Worship is so much more then just a Sunday morning church service singing songs and praying. We need to have a hunger for God. We need to creatively worship with what we can when we can...

Anyhow, it is midnight now and I am going to head to bed now. Hope you all are doing well and have a great day tomorrow.
