Where I'm From

Found this at Owlhaven, and the form is found a Fragments From Floyd.

I really enjoyed doing this and reading others. It makes me feel like I really know them. Writing it out made me realize just how many memories I have. I could go on and on and on...

I am going to see what my kids think about writing one of their own. It would be neat to see theirs and what impacts them!

Where I'm From

I am from swings, from Dettol and Kool-Aid.

I am from the brick house, with the double driveway and the awesome, huge toboganning hill in the backyard.

I am from the aloe vera plants that I couldn't keep alive, the towering sunflowers with seeds that tasted great off the plant, the mother of millions that I got in 6th grade, the marigolds that we planted every year in the front yard and the buttercups that always said I love butter.

I am from Snickerdoodles and missionary's, from Mom and Dad, Grandmas and Grandpas, even the ones I never got to meet.

I am from the ones who always know someone wherever they go and love to work with kids.

From "you are my favourite" that grandpa whispered in my ear and "clean your room" echoed daily.

I am from Christians who love God and prayed for me every step of the way and who were there for me everytime I returned home.

I'm from suburban Southwestern Ontario and English ancestors who came over on a boat but lost one brother on the way, bologna and ketchup sandwiches and Sunday afternoon roasts with mashed potatoes.

From the trip with my grandparents to Texas and Mexico, to Disneyworld and being too scared of Magic Mountain, the trip to Barbados to visit my aunt and uncle and the monkeys that played in the backyard.

I am from Storybook Gardens, Santa's Village, and numerous summer camps where relationships and memories were formed and cherished to this day. From Barbados, Mexico, throughout the US and Canada showing that my love for travel started as a young child.

From all the wonderful memories tucked away in the years and albums, waiting to come out.

  3. This is so inspiring. This kind of introspection is good for character development.

    My 13 are posted.
