Baby Stuff

My brother and sis in law headed into the hospital yesterday. She is over a week late and her water finally broke.

I told my kids that Auntie T's water had broke and they got all excited and kept saying that the baby was coming soon then. (We've been there before!!).

Cutie Pie, who hadn't really said anything, and who is now old enough to understand a bit more, asks me later on...

"So, her water broke down? Does that mean the baby is coming out soon?" (edited to put the proper terminology in...I couldn't remember exactly what she said before...then she said it again!)

...I am waiting for the next set of questions to come up next...I know they will be starting soon as I am getting further along in my pregnancy...so, I will start preparing my answers now...

  1. When C's Aunt T had a baby she asked the "How did the baby get out?" question. Before I could answer, she came up with her own answer..."I know, the doctor tugged on her legs and pulled her out". At that time, she didn't care about the where.

  4. Oh goodness! Those questions! The one I had trouble answering from the kids in our extended family when I was pregnant with Julia was, "How did the baby get in there?"

I replied with, "How do you think the baby got in there?"

One of them said, "God put it in there."

I just said, "Yes. And Dave helped."

I bought a book called "What To Expect When Mommy Is Expecting" for Julia. It is from the same author that wrote "What To Expect When You're Expecting." It's actually quite wonderful and explains what is going on and what the child can expect in simple, honest language.

I hope you are feeling well. Your baby will be here before we know it. Little Samuel, right? Because I KNOW it's a boy.
