Thursday Thirteen - Things I Have Been Up To...

I have been pretty busy lately and I thought I would try to come up with 13 things that have been going on in my life:-)

Here goes...

1.  Working in a group home. We have a great group of individuals and I love when I get called in to work:-)

2.  Working with 12 year old, who has autism.  It is going on 2 years that I have supported her and I still really enjoy it.  She has gotten to the point where she is talking more and responding more appropriate...it is kinda cool to know that I have helped with communication:-)

3.  I just started supporting another individual who is my age.  She is great and we have a lot of fun laughing together.  I get to do quite a few fun things with her and am enjoying the time spent there.

4.  Working on Sunday School stuff...I am planning out the whole year of curriculum so that I don't have to think about it at all...I will just have to keep up with the scheduling, and that isn't so bad.

5.  Trying to keep the house organized...kids schedules, meal preps, cleaning, homework etc...

6.  Appointments with Faith - We still are in the process of the med change and we are keeping close contact with the dr.  until we see how it all works out in the end.  Plus, sleep, eyes, ears etc...always somewhere for us to go.

7.  Ladies get togethers.  We have been getting together quite a bit lately and I am really enjoying that time away from home.  We don't just hang out, we have some great discussions too.

8.  Blogging/Working from home...I have been blogging more often now and I am glad that I am back into the swing of it again...the working from home, not so much, but I am doing it occasionally now...

9.  Walking every day - I have managed to walk at least a little bit each day this week so far.  It feels good to get up in the morning and go for that walk in the crisp fall air.  I love this time of year:-)

10.  Giving up Iced Capps...which has been successful so far...I haven't had one since Sunday night (my last one was then) so it has been 4 days today...not a big deal for some, but a big deal for me.  I need to figure out how to handle the headaches that start at 4pm...

11.  Helping with a friends fundraiser for MS surgery (talk to me more if you would like to help them raise $15000 US...)

12.  Hanging out with my BFF!!

13.  Helping out at church in other areas...I need to finish decorating the bulletin board before Sunday:-)

Thursday 13 - Random

(the year is wrong on the pic, aren't they cute? Faith has become Pooky's dolly!! And look how clean that corner is, proof that we do clean around here sometimes;-)

Thirteen Random Things About My Life Right Now...Cause I am random:-)

1. I love my placement that I am in right now. I wasn't sure how I would feel working with adults (instead of kids) but I am finding that it really is fun!!

2. I have been soooo busy lately. Appts, placement, appts, life, meals, kids, family, home

3. My online work has taken a beating this month. Something about being extremely busy or something!!

4. Oh yeah...the company I work for - White Cloud Marketing is giving away an iPad!! All you have to do is join their Facebook group

5. Faith had her psych assessment over the last few days. She had absolutely no interest in the book part of it...and instead ran around the room...and figured out how to open the child proof locked door

6. The guy who did the assessment asked at the end - Is this generally how she behaves? Yes...

7. He said he read her file and history and was amazed at her progress...and loved her personality:-)

8. Re: the child proof door lock - Yeah, my life has become even more exciting now!! Nothing can fence her in!

9. Mr. H made the HONOUR ROLL at school!! He is my kid who proves the fact that some kids learn much better later then earlier:-)

10. Cutie Pie has enjoyed her ball season..but this crazy May weather is throwing the season for a loop...one game has already been cancelled and I am not so sure tonight will be a go...

11. Princess is heading out to her grade 6 camping trip next week!! She is looking forward to no schoolwork and hanging out with her friends. I will have to reassess our schedule!! Man, do I rely on my older kids a lot!!

12. Pooky is Pooky...she is wild, funny, has an awesomely unique personality - she is one of our biggest cuddlers, however she is the one I struggle the most with...Her stubborness, her fight, her will power...one day will be good, but for mommy it can be frustrating!! I have to remind myself that no one will push her around when she is older!!

13. I am going to set a goal to lose some weight. I am going to attempt to work out regularly and cut bad choices out of my diet - but not fully, because that doesn't work for me...I am going on a moderation diet:-) Everything in moderation...

Thursday 13 - Random Thoughts in my Brain...

1. Only 3 more months then I am finished the PSW course...which I really am enjoying, I just can't wait to get working. I really want to work with Medically Fragile Children, like Faith...I want to be able to give back:-)

2. Off to licensed childcare centre visits today...new waters for me...but it would be nice to know that Faith is somewhere where she can be monitored and assessed and get all the help she needs.

3. This year has really been flying past!! I feel like it was just New Years last weekend...and BOOM now it is Easter...

4. Thinking of ways to help my son save for his trip this summer to Romania...$2000...by June!!

5. My house really needs to be decluttered...bad!!

6. I can't wait until it is warm enough to open the pool!! I am looking forward to swimming in the

backyard again this year!!

7. We really gotta finish the fence for sure this year...

8. It is hot in my house...why is the heat on?

9. Would love to plan the princess tea party again this year, but I have WAY too much on my plate already

10. I wonder if the doctor is going to refer us to a geneticist? I want to rule out any other possiblities for Faith before we say 100% that it is just the brain damage...I am looking into Angelman Syndrome, which she displays most of the symptoms for...

11. I have had a lot of roles in my life to date!! I have been a daughter, sister, granddaughter, neice, cousin - but I have also been a nurse, a therapist (both physical and emotional), a mediator, an encourager, a dietician, a researcher, a caregiver, a mom, a friend...sometimes I just want to be me...

12. I am thrilled that Princess got straight A's on her report and Cutie Pie got all B's and C's!! No D's here:-)

13. I am so blessed:-) I need to be more thankful for what I have and the future that I see ahead of me!! I am surrounded with amazing people, friends, family and even the people who show up and are gone quickly...I am learning more about what I want and where I want to go and who I want to influence...cool:-)

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen great things about my week 1. Pooky, my almost 2 year old, is almost fully toilet trained. She will take her diaper off when she has to go now, when she is done, she puts her diaper back on or her panties...however we need to work on wiping... 2. Princess turned 9 last week. This past Monday we went to Chuck E Cheese and had a blast. She brought one friend and we had coupons...which I love!! I really enjoyed watching all the kids play the games and climb on the slide and just have a great night. 3. A few new friends have started blogging and I am enjoying their posts. You should all go and check them out at Cheri, mon Cheri, and Pruim Adventures. They are definitely worth visiting!! 4. My hubby let me sleep the other night...this pregnancy has really taken a huge toll on me...I have been pregnant 5 times prior to this one, and I have never been so tired and absent minded. This has really taken me off guard. BUT...I have the worlds greatest hubby and after dinner on Tuesday he told me to lay down, so I did, and I didn't wake up until the morning. The kids had all worked together on cleaning the house and it was great to wake up to! 5. I have an Usborne show this coming Saturday. I am excited, because I have never done a 'real' show. I have done open houses at my house and my friends house, but never elsewhere. Her daughters school is trying to raise money for new playground equipment and we have a table at the bazaar. I am looking forward to seeing how it goes for me there. 6. Princess went to AWANA last night and did something that no other T&T girl has done. She said all 32 points and backup verses. She memorized them all and had to recite them for the extra credit work. Now she gets to help the other kids in her class with their work. I am so proud of her. 7. Mr. Hockey's ball hockey team is in first place. This is so exciting because the last 2 years his teams have been in last place. He is so happy and is really enjoying this year!! He loved to play the other years too, it is just a nice change of pace for him!! 8. We started a new homeschool curriculum, just for Geography. The kids are enjoying it and are not so bored, so that means that I am enjoying it too. We are first studying some of the canadian geography, then we get to do all kinds of fun activities, like relief maps and posters etc...I hope this changes things up a bit for us all... 9. IT IS 11 DEGREES OUTSIDE...IT IS SO WARM...I LOVE SPRING AND THE FACT THAT IT IS ALMOST WARM ENOUGH FOR NO JACKETS!!!! 10. Cutie Pie still makes us all laugh, all the time. She says the funniest things and I really need to start some kind of a book to keep track of each of the kids funny things... 11. I got a paid advertising box on my site now and I am so excited that I will make some extra money there...it means that I can buy something on eBay that I have been interested in getting for hubby's birthday and he will never have to know about it!! 12. We are still out of our overdraft...our bank has not gone negative at all, which is absolutely huge for us, especially when we were actually living in the overdraft. It means that so far, we have saved being charged that extra $5 for using the overdraft. Dancing the happy dance over here!! 13. We got our weekend booked and we are ready to go. Now we just have to have some patience, but at least it is something to definitely look forward to. Now, Cuba is going to be a different story...we were planning on going in October, but that is when the baby is due, so forget that. How bad a mom would I be if we planned on going in February instead...my mom said she would definitely watch the baby then...is that bad of me or no??? Links to other Thursday Thirteens!
